Enzo Mari
He was born in Novara in 1932; he has always worked following many directions,
linked together by a deep reflection on "shape" and "plan" concepts. Since the end of 50's, just as a
visual arts philologist, he has been interesting also in design.
He cooperated with many Italian
firms (among the most famous ones, we remember Alessi, Arnolfo di Cambio, Interflex, Kartell, KPM, Lema,
Magis, Olivetti, Zanotta). Some of his works of art and design belong to several museum collections,
such as MOMA, in New York and the Milan Triennial. Thanks to his research work, he received many awards,
such as the "4 Compasso D'Oro".
Ugo La Pietra
Artist, architect and designer, he was born in 1938; he graduated in Architecture in 1964 at
the Poliytechnic in Milan. He teached at the Faculty of Architecture of Palermo, Turin,
Venice, Milan; at the ISIA of Faenza and of Monza; he coordinated the Company Design Departement
at the Brera Academy and Milan. Here he also teached Design. He published many books on design
and applied arts. He received the "Compasso D'Oro" in 1977.
He is editing the magazine Artigianato;
he is also the First Observatory of Applied Arts' Director in Monza. He cooperated with Italian
and international furniture firms; he was art Director of several events, among which we mention
"Abitare il Tempo" from 1985 to 2000.
Enrico Tonucci
Born in Pesaro in 1946, he graduated at the Art Institute of Pesaro in 1963.
Then he attended the Art Education Course in Florence and the Scenography course at the Art Academy
in Urbino. He has been worked as a designer since 1970 for many Italian and European companies.
He cooperated as artistic chief with the most important companies in furnishing sector.
He lives and works in Pesaro.
He is cooperating with several Italian firms (among which we remember Schonbuch, Walter Knoll,
Scavolini, Fiam, Sica, Italomma, Bigelli...).
Timothy Toomey
Born in London in 1955, he lived and worked in Italy before moving to Japan, where he was one of the first foreign designers working successfully and anonimously for Muji company. He loves design; nowadays he lives and works in Oxford (UK).
Terry Pecora
Terry Pecora, American woman, was born in 1958 and grew up in South California. He studied
illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Here she started planning in
furnishing and design sectors. In 1989 she moved to Milan, where she studied at the
Domus Academy, attending the Product Design course.
In 1991 she founded her own Office and designed for many European companies such as BRF,
Ceramica Tecla, DNA, Ellesse, Edra, Flou, Interflex, Marco Bicego, Plumcake Kids, Simas,
Vice Versa, Zanotta and accessories for Adidas, Esprit, Montblanc, Silhouette and Swatch.
Pia Wallén
Born in 1957 in Sweden, she studied Fashion Design at the famous Beckmans
Designschool of Stockholm from 1981 to 1983. She founded her own design company "Pia Wallen Forma".
The main purpose of Pia Wallen is a high-quality design and innovation. Among her most famous
products, we find the "feltro pantofola", exclusive jewels and "croce" plaid. They can be found
in U.S.A., Canada, U.K., Switzerland, Korea, Japan, Ireland, Greece, Portugal.
